The older will give the young lucky money in red paper envelopes with beautiful designs and best wishes on them. Outside in the street there are dragon dances and carnivals. Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day(February 14th)
Day to exchange messages of love with the object of one’s romantic interest. Usually observed through the gifting of roses and heart-shaped boxes of chocolates. The day gets its name from the Christian saint(圣徒) Valentine.
The 15th day of the 1st lunar month is the Chinese Lantern Festival because the first lunar month is called yuan-month and in the ancient times people called night Xiao. The 15th day is the first night to see a full moon. So the day is also called Yuan Xiao Festival in China.
Lantern Festival 元宵节
Mid-autumn Festival
Mid-Autumn Festival
The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, the exact middle of autumn, hence the festival's name. On this mid-autumn night, the full moon is especially bright. The whole family may sit together beneath the clear moonlight eating tasty moon cakes and appreciating the beauty of the fully rounded moon. Those who are far away from their homes that night are only too easily reminded of their families when they look up at the luminous moon.
