圣诞节(Christmas)本身是一个宗教节，用来庆祝耶稣的诞辰，因而又名耶诞节，位于每年12月25日，这是西方国家一年中最重要的节日。在圣诞节，大部分的天主教教堂都会先在12月24日的平安夜及12月25日凌晨举行子夜弥撒；现如今，圣诞节已经成为欧美国家的公共假日，有点类似于中国的春节，是举家团圆的日子。
西方人以红、绿、白三色作为圣诞色，圣诞节来临时家家户户都要用圣诞色来装饰。红色的有圣诞花和圣诞蜡烛，绿色的是圣诞树，红与白相映成趣的是圣诞老人。
