Starter Unit 3 What color is it?
一、单元教材分析
本单元主要围绕“询问颜色”这一主题展开各种教学活动,并以这一主题引出表颜色的单词,问颜色的特殊疑问句及其回答等语言功能。同时学习了字母Ss~Zz、复习巩固所学的全部26个英语字母、总结归纳了元音字母a、e、i、o和u的发音规则。在整个单元学习中注意给学生创造一个轻松、快捷记单词、愉快的学习、交流环境,通过听、说、读、写来培养学生综合运用知识的能力。并让学生能在“做中学”(learning by doing),通过有限的课堂实践活动,注意观察别人的行动,能准确地用英语来表达。通过本单元教学,使学生能运用所学英语,正确地描述物体的颜色;同时熟练掌握所学的26个英语字母。
二、单元学情分析
本单元紧紧围绕“询问颜色”这一话题,把字母、有关颜色的日常交际用语、词汇有机地结合起来。话题贴近学生的实际生活,学生们能很容易地将自己的生活体验用英语轻松地表达出来。七年级的学生对英语很感兴趣,学习热情很高,有学习英语的愿望和兴趣,乐于参与各种英语实践活动,在教学过程中,教师应加以积极引导,恰当培养,让学生形成稳定的英语学习兴趣。学生们正处于成长发育阶段,记忆力较好,理解和认知水平还有待提高,因此在教学过程中应以师生互动为主,充分练习,展示个性,让学生们运用所学的知识来解决问题,实现课堂的实效性。此外,应注意学生在学习的过程中很容易把“What color”错写成或错读成 “What’s color”,因此在练习中要反复强调。
三、单元教学建议
采用自主学习、小组合作学习、Role playing、 pair work等方式开展听、说、读、写的学习活动。教师要尽量利用幻灯片、挂图、实物等给学生创造较为真实的英语情景,教师可以制作或让学生们制作各种颜色的卡片,整个教学过程应当自始至终在一种鲜明的色彩背景下进行,旨在营造那种为学生所喜爱的欢快气氛,教师应当在十种颜色上大做文章;在使用实物时要使颜色醒目;在组合图画时,要尽量用大色块;在使用投影时要使颜色突出来。

本单元可用2课时完成教学任务:

一、教学目标:
1. 语言知识目标:
1) 能掌握以下词汇:字母Ss ~ Zz, color, red, white, black, blue, green, yellow, purple, brown
2) 能掌握以下句型:
① — What's this? — It's V.
② — What's that? — It's Z.
③ — What color is it? — It's red.
3) 使学生能运用所学知识熟练描述物体的颜色,同时进一步学习分辨物体的用语,并加以运用。
4)能掌握字母Ss ~ Zz的字母顺序,读音及书写。
2. 情感态度价值观目标:
用各种可以调动学生积极性的活动来提高学生的活跃性,激发他们参与讨论的热情。让学生们能发表个人观点,努力解决问题;能学会与他人合作与交流;能运用多种手段为英语学习服务。同时可以对学生进行美育教育,从小培养他们对美的正确认识。

Ⅰ. Presentation
Check if the ss could say the right colors.
Ⅱ. Show some pictures
1. (教师向学生们出示自己做的各种颜色的字母卡片教学字母Ss-Zz。)
T: What’s this? (Point to the letter "Ss")
Ss: It’s S.
T:Read “Ss” after me.
Ss: “Ss”.
(The same with "Tt, Uu, Vv, Ww, Xx, Yy, Zz")
Let Ss read all the letters aloud, and try to remember them.
2. (教学字母Ss-Zz 后,教师再利用不同颜色的字母(Ss-Zz)卡片问学生)
T: What color is it? (Point to the red card.)
Ss:(Help Ss to answer) It's red.
T: What's this?
Ss: It's "Ss".
T: What color is it?
Ss: It's red.
(The same with "Tt, Uu, Vv, Ww, Xx, Yy, Zz")
3. Let Ss look at the picture in 1a. Read the colors on the left then read the letters. Write the letter for each color.
Ss write the letter next to the colors. Then let some Ss read their letters to check the answers.

1. Tell Ss to look at the picture in 1a. Some students are talking about the colors and letters.
2. OK. Now let's listen to the recording first. Then repeat after the recording.
3. Ss listen and repeat after the recording.
Ⅳ.
Pair work
1. (让学生们看1a图画中的人物的对话,告诉学生图画中男孩与女孩就不同颜色的字母进行问答对话。同学们应注意应用正确运用this和that。)
T: You are the boy, your partner is the girl and practice the conversations in pairs.

1. Let Ss recite Aa ~ Rr twice.
2. (告诉学生们下面接着学习字母Ss ~ Zz。其中S、T、U、V、W、X、Y、Z是大写字母;s、t、u、v、w、x、y、z是小写字母。)
T:First, let's listen to the letters. 2a
(播放录音三次,第一次学生们仅听,第二次和第三次学生们跟读。注意可运用暂停键来让学生们有足够的时间读完。)
3. Let some Ss read out the letters Ss ~ Zz. (注意纠正学生们不准确的读音)
4. Let Ss try to remember the letters Ss ~ Zz.
5. Now let's work on 2b. Listen and number the letters you hear [1-8].
(教师播放录音三次,第一次学生们仅听,第二次听录音填编号、第三次听录音校对答案。)
Ⅵ. Writing
1. T: Now let's learn how to write these letters. First look at the picture carefully in 2c. Then tell us how to write these English letters.
2. Ss read and find out the writing rules of the letters Ss ~ Zz.
S1:大字字母都是占上两格。
S2: 字母s、t、u、v、w、x、z占中间的一格。
S3:字母y占下两格。
3. Ss try to copy the letters by themselves. T goes around the classroom to give any help.
4. Let some Ss come to the Bb, and write down the letters on the Bb. Check with the whole class.
Ⅶ. Practice
1. Tell Ss to look at the picture in 2d. First, read the letters aloud. Then let some Ss read the letters to the class aloud.
2. Let Ss try to write down the missing letters. Check the answers with your partner.
3. Let some Ss come the Bb and write missing letters on the Bb.
(注意看学生们的字母笔顺是否正确,纠正不正确的笔顺,并让其他学生引起注意。)

Ⅸ. Explanation
1. What color is it?是一个特殊疑问句,用来询问物体的颜色。其答语既可以直接用表示颜色的词,也可以用“It’s/ They’re + 表示颜色的词”。
即:主语是单数时,be 动词用is,回答一般用“It’s + 颜色”来表示;被询问的物品,即句子的主语是复数时,be动词用are,回答一般用“They’re + 颜色”来表示。
【拓展】
表示颜色的单词还可以用来表示人的姓氏,但表示姓氏时,第一个字母必须大写。例如:
Mr. Green 格林先生 Miss Green 格林小姐
Mrs. Brown 布朗夫人 Mr. White 怀特先生
2. 字母 Ss Tt Uu Vv Ww Xx Yy Zz 的书写。
这是26个字母中的后8个字母。其中Uu为元音字母,其余均为辅音字母。

教学反思:本节课学习的是有关于颜色的知识,如今学生穿校服颜色单调,因此采用了别的实物,如学生的手表和其他学习用具,所以操作起来很方便,同学们也非常感兴趣。另外,为了吸引学生的注意力,我还进行抢答:看谁得的东西多,极大地提高了学生的积极性,效果非常好。

Ⅰ. Warming up and revision
1. Review the color and the letters Ss ~ Zz. Let some Ss recite the letters. Then let some Ss come to the Bb and write them on the Bb. (注意和同学们一起纠正个别同学不正确的笔顺。)
2. Review the conversations.
(Show Ss a card with a red letter "S")
T: What's this?
Ss: It's S.
T: What color is it?
Ss: It's red.
(Let a student show a card with a black letter "V")
T: What's that?
Ss: It's V.
T: What color is it?
Ss: It's black.
3. Let Ss ask and answer about different color letters in pairs.
Ⅱ. Listening
1. Tell Ss to work on 3a
T: Please look at the picture in 1a. Who can tell us the names of the objects in English?
T: What's this?
S1: It's a cup.
T: What's this?
S2: It's a ruler.
T: And what's this?
S3: It's a pen.
(Then play the recording twice. Students color in the items in the picture according to the conversation. )
Let some Ss show their pictures to check the answers.
2. Tell Ss to work on 3b
T: Please look at the chart. Who can read the sentences?
S4: The key is yellow. The ruler is… The pen is…
(Tell Ss that they need to fill in the correct words for the color of each item.)
Play the recording again. The students write the correct color words.
Check the answers.
3. Tell Ss to work on 3c.
T: Look at the chart. You should write the things you hear in the conversation in the left side. Then write the color of the things in the right.
Play the recording for the Ss to write the names of the things in the left column.
Play the recording again for the Ss to write the colors of the things in the right column.
Then let some Ss read their words in the chart to check the answers.
Ⅲ. Pair work
1. Show Ss a yellow key in the hand and ask:
T: What's this?
S1: It's a key.
T: Spell it, please.
S1: K-E-Y.
T: What color is it?
S1: It's yellow.
2. T: OK. Now please read the conversation with your partner in 3d.
Ss work with their partners and read the conversation aloud.
Then let some pairs act out the conversation.
3. T: Now, make three other conversations using the things in 3a-3c.

Ⅳ. Writing
1. (问学生们,在一个什么样的日常的生活用品上能找到26个英文字母,学生很快会想到计算机的键盘。然后,向学生们出示一个真的计算机的键盘。)
2. Look at the picture in 4a. Work with your partners and find the letters from A to Z. Then point at the letter from A to Z several times with your fingers.
3. Can you write the small letters beside each big letters? Now write the small letters beside each big letters. (提醒学生们一定注意每个字母的格式及正确的笔顺,如果想不起某个字母的笔顺,可以去前面查询。)
4. Let some Ss come to the Bb and write them on the Bb. Check the answers.
(和同学们一起纠正笔顺不正确的字母。)

1. Let's work on 4c.
(告诉学生们这是有关元音字母a、e、i、o和u在单词中读音规则的总结,同学们认真听,看能否听清左右两个方框中发音的不同。)

教学反思:本节课事对前面知识的总汇。并通过词汇的扩展,强化了音标的学习。学生对此很感兴趣。尤其是寻找发音规律,如大量的字母组合的发音规律。为了调动学生的积极性,激发他们参与讨论的热情,让学生们能发表个人观点,努力解决问题,因而老师在这个环节上起到帮助作用。同时还对学生进行美育教育,从小培养他们对美的正确认识,整堂课气氛活跃!
