Starter Unit 3 What color is it?
一、Teaching aims (教学目标)
1. 能够用英语询问颜色,并能够做出相应的问答。
2. 能够说出一些日常用品的名称。
3. 能够正确掌握字母S—Z的正确读音和书写。
4. 能够熟记元音字母以及字母的发音归类。
二、Language points (语言点)
1. 掌握字母:Ss Tt Uu Vv Ww Xx Yy Zz
2. 掌握词汇: 名词兼动词:color 名词兼形容词:red, yellow, green, blue, black, white, purple, brown 动词:see, can, say 冠词:the 副词:now 代词:my
3. 掌握句型:What’s this/that? It’s V.
What color is it? It’s red.
三、Difficulties (教学难点)
1. What color开头的特殊疑问句。疑问词What修饰color,因此两个词要放在一起,不 能分开,回答时一定要落实到颜色上。
2. It’s red. 和It’s a red V中不定冠词的基本用法。
3. 字母的读音归类

The First Period (1a – 1c)
Teaching aims (教学目标) 
  1. 能够用英语询问颜色,并能够做出相应的问答  
2. 能够说出一些日常用品的名称。 
Language points (语言点) 
1. 掌握词汇:  名词:color  
名词兼形容词:red, yellow, green, blue, black, white, purple, brown  
 2. 掌握句型:What’s this/that?  It’s V.   
What color is it? It’s red. 
Difficulties (教学难点)  
1. What color开头的特殊疑问句。疑问词What修饰color,因此两个词要放在一起,不
能分开,回答时一定要落实到颜色上。  
2. It’s red. 和It’s a red V中表语是否使用不定冠词的情况。 
Teaching steps (教学步骤) 
1. Warm-up and revision (课堂热身和复习) 
(1)T: Good morning / afternoon /!  (2)T: How are you?    S: I’m fine thanks. How are you?  
 T: I’m OK. 
(3)T: What’s this / that in English? (Teacher shows some pictures or PPT to students)  S: It’s a pen / an orange. ....   T: Spell it, please.  
S: … 
2. Presentation (呈现新知识)  1) Show a picture of a rainbow to lead in different colors.  
T: This is a rainbow. It’s colorful. (Point to the color red) It is red. (Point to the color yellow) 
It’s yellow. (教师用彩虹引出大自然中五颜六色的现象让学生初步接触表颜色的英语词汇,学生仔细听老师的发音。)
2) Show some real things to learn the words: red, yellow, green, blue, black, white, purple, brown 
T: Look at the flower(边说边指着“花”). It is red. It’s a red flower. Read after me, ―red‖. S: Red. red, red.  
T: What color is it? (板书并标出音标)  
S: It’s red.   
(同法引出其它几个表颜色的词) 
3) Show some colorful letter cards to the students and practice like this.   T: What’s this?    S: It’s V.    T: What color is it? 
S: (Teacher helps students) It’s red. (同法教S, T, V W X Y Z并引出表颜色的词) 
3. Work on 1a (完成1a)  (1)T: Please open your books at Page 9. What colors can you see on the left?   
 S: Red, yellow, green, blue, black, white, purple and brown.  
(2)What letters can you see in the picture?   
 S: S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z. 
 (3)T: What color is V / …?    S: It’s red. / …  
   T: V is red. It’s a red V. Read after me, please.    
 S: V is red. It’s a red V. 
 (4)Look at the picture and write the letter for each color.   
(Keys: V, S, Y, W, U, X, T )  
4. Chant 说唱  
(Look at the picture and learn to chant.)  
V V V, V is red. It’s a red V. S S S, S is yellow. It’s a yellow S.  
Y Y Y, Y is green. It’s a green Y.  W W W, W is blue. It’s a blue W.  
Z Z Z, Z is black. It’s a black Z.
U U U, U is white. It’s a white U.
X X X, X is purple. It’s a purple X.
T T T, T is brown. It’s a brown T.
4. Work on 1b (完成1b) T: Close your books and listen to the recording.
(1) Play the recording for the first time, Students only listen. T: I’ll play the recording for you. You must listen to it carefully.
(2) Play the recording for the second time. Students listen and repeat. T: This time, you can read after the recording.
(3)T: Now please open your books at Page 9. Look at the conversations in the picture. Let’s listen and repeat.
Explain: 指近处用―this‖,指远处用―that‖。
5. Work on 1c (完成1c)
(1)Students practice the conversations in the picture in pairs. T: Look at the conversation in the picture. You can practice in pairs.
(2)Students practice their own conversations in pairs. While they are practicing, the teacher moves around to listen to their pronunciation and intonation.
(3)Ask some pairs to present their conversations.
6. Chant (说唱)
Students look at the words in 1a and chant.
Red, red, a red V.
Yellow, yellow, a yellow S.
Green, green, a green Y.
Blue, blue, a blue W.
Black, black, a black Z.
White, white, a white U,
Purple, purple, a purple X,
Brown, brown, a brown T. 。
7. Do you know them? (知道它们的意思吗)
a black sheep 害群之马 black leg 骗子 green eyed 眼红 a green hand 新手 a white night 不眠之夜 white coffee 加牛奶的咖啡 8. Homework (课后作业) Oral: 朗读第9页上的单词和句子 Written: (1)抄写第9页上的单词三遍;(2)抄写第9页图片上的句子一遍。
The Second Period (2a – 2e)
Teaching aims (教学目标)
1. 能够辨认英语字母缩写的商标等。
2. 能够正确读、写英语字母S—Z。
Language point (语言点)
1. 能掌握英语字母S—Z。
2. 能听懂、会说、会写大小写字母。 Difficulties (教学难点) 字母U, V, W的读音,以及小写字母y的手写体与印刷体的不同。强调英语大小写字母 的书写格式,避免书写错误,做到书写正确、美观。
Teaching steps (教学步骤)
1. Warming-up and revision (课堂热身和复习)
(1)Greetings (2)Review the colors and letters learnt last period
(3)Chant
Red, red, a red V.
Yellow, yellow, a yellow S.
Green, green, a green Y.
Blue, blue, a blue W.
Black, black, a black Z.
White, white, a white U,
Purple, purple, a purple X,
Brown, brown, a brown T.
2. Presentation (呈现新知识)
T: Look at the blackboard. They are big letters. Can you write down their small letters? xxx, can you come to the front and write the small letters next to the big letters on the blackboard. 3. Work on 2a (完成2a)
Play the recording. Students listen and repeat.
T: Listen to the recording and read after it, please. (老师每播放一个发音后,学生跟读,并教学生读出其升降调,学生读准确后继续播放。在跟读时尤其让学生注意难点中提到的那几个字母的发音。)
(2)Teacher shows some letter cards. T: Read these letters, please. (老师利用字母卡,打乱顺序,让学生使用升降调朗读。)
3. Work on 2b (完成2b)
(1)Play the recording for the first time. Students only listen.
(2)Play the recording for the second time. Students listen and number the letters.
(3)Play the recording for the third time. Students listen and check their answers.
(4)Students read them aloud.
4. Work on 2c & 2d ( 完成2c和2d )
教师可以通过多媒体展示或以自己的方式来教学字母的书写Ii — Rr。注意书写体和印 刷体的区别。尤其注意X的笔顺笔画。
5. Work on 2e (完成2e)
(1)Present the letters and the meanings the students know. eg. CD, HB, BBC, P, NBA, kg以及补充的ABC, CAAC, CBA, BC, AD, PRC等。
(2)Present some new letters and their meanings. T: Please look at these big letters and pictures. Do you know what they mean? S— Small M— Medium L— Large UFO—不明飞行物 CCTV— 中央电视台
(3)Present some more like XL(加大号), MTV(音乐电视), IT(信息技术), IQ(智商), EMS (邮政速递公司), SARS(非典), RMB(人民币), PC(个人计算机), CCP(中国共产党)
6. Dictation (听写练习) T: Let’s have a dictation. I’ll invite two students to come to the blackboard and write on it.
7. Homework (课后作业)
(1)听读背诵字母A—R。
(2)抄写字母Ss —Zz 以及字母缩写三遍。
(3)默写字母Aa— Zz
The Third Period (3a- 3d )
Teaching aims (教学目标) 
 1. 进一步提高描述颜色的能力。  
2. 能够辨认物品及物品的颜色。 
Language points (语言要点) 
 1. 初步学习定冠词the表特指的用法。 
 
2. 进一步巩固系表结构中单数可数名词要用不定冠词a/an以及形容词做表语不用a/an
的情况。  
3. 巩固句型 
What’s this/that in English? It’s a/an … Spell it, please. What color is it? It’s … 
Difficulties (教学难点)  1. 系表结构中单数可数名词要用不定冠词a/an和形容词做表语不用a/an的情况。  
2. 本单元所学单词的拼写。 
Teaching Steps (教学步骤) 
1. Warming-up and revision (课堂热身和复习)  (1)Daily greetings to the students. (日常问候)   T: Good morning/afternoon! /Hello!/Hi!/How are you?   
S: I’m fine, thank you. And you? 
 (2)Revision    1) A guessing game: (Show some colors)    T: I have a color. It begins with ―r‖. What color is it?    
S: I know it’s red.   
  (以此方法猜测yellow, white, black, brown, purple, orange, blue, green)   2)A spelling game     T: What’s this color? (教师在黑板上书:b_ _ _)    S: Is there an ―l‖ in this word?  
T: Yes, there is
S: Is there a ―u‖ in this word?
T: Yes, there is.
S: Is there an ―e‖ in this word?
T: Yes, there is.
S: Ah, I know it’s blue. (以此方法猜测yellow, white, black, brown, purple, orange, red, green) (3)Dictation
T: I’ll read some letters, and you have a dictation. 2. Presentation (讲授新知识) Draw some circles on the blackboard.
T: I like white, so I color(强调读出) it white. (To a student)What’s your favorite color? What color do you like? S: I like red. T: Good! Color it red. (变换同学,反复操练,最后教师指出:color在这里是动词“给„„着色”)
3. Work on 3a (完成3a)
T: Please open your books at Page 11. (Point to the things)What’s this in English?
S: It’s a cup/ ruler/ key.
T: Good. Now
let’s listen to the conversation and color them.
(1)Play the recording for the first time, students only listen.
(2)Play the recording for the second time, students color the things.
(3)Check their answers.
4. Work on 3b (完成3b)
(1) T: Let’s listen to the recording once again and complete the sentences. (Play the recording.) (2) Check the answers.
(3) T: ―The key is yellow. ― means ―It’s a yellow key.‖ What does the ruler is …? S: It means ― It’s a … ruler.‖
5. Work on 3c (完成3c)
(1) T: Next, we’ll listen to … This time, we only listen. (Play the recording.)  (2) T: Let’s listen to the … again. This time, you can listen for the things.   
(3) T: What color are the things? Let’s listen again. You can fill in the chart.  
6. Presentation (讲授新知识)  (1)根据3c表格内容编一段chant,例如:    Key, key, a yellow key, I like a yellow key.     
Cup, cup, a red cup, I like a red cup.   
2.T: I like red, R-E-D, red. What about you?  
   S: I like green. 
     T: Spell it, please. 
     S: G-R-E-E-N, green. 
T: What’s this in English? (Teacher shows some pictures or plays PPT.)
     S: It’s a key.   
   T: Spell it, please.  
S: K-E-Y, key.  
7. Work on 3d
 (1)  Get two students to practice the conversation.  
  (2)  Students practice their conversations in pairs.   
While the students are practicing, the teacher moves around and helps those who 
need help.  
8. Homework(课后作业)  
Oral: (1) 并熟记本单元的词汇。 
(2) 朗读并背诵3b 和3d上的句子。
 Written: (1)抄写3b 和3d上的句子一遍。  
编一段新的对话,写在作业本上。
The Fourth Period (4a- 4d )
Teaching aims (教学目标) 
 1. 熟练掌握英语字母表,能够正确拼写26个字母大小写。 
 2. 会唱英语字母歌。 
3. 了解A E I O U五个元音字母常见的开、闭音节的发音。
